About

In 2021, NACUBO began a multi-year journey to develop a model of practice and complementary toolkits that center student outcomes in strategic financial practices.

To help institutions strategically finance equitable student outcomes, a small team of NACUBO subject matter experts began this work by forming a Networked Improvement Community (NIC) of 26 chief business officers (CBOs) who represented a diverse profile of institutions. While diverse in mission, all the institutions shared a commitment to serving a significant number of current or historically marginalized groups of students.

The deliverables that emerged from NACUBO’s extensive engagement with the NIC present a model of practice to improve student outcomes that can be championed by CBOs and activated in collaboration with their colleagues. Further supporting this model is a suite of pragmatic, customizable tools and resources, serving as catalysts to prompt and accelerate efforts to improve student outcomes through strategic financial practices.
